We are excited to once again be hosting a 'Bubs and Bumps' morning tea for SEMBA members who are expecting their multiples or with babies aged 12 months or under. We hope you can join us for a cuppa, morning tea and chat at committee member Mariona’s house in Carnegie (address to be sent on RSVP). These morning teas are a great way to meet and connect with other SEMBA members who have babies of a similar age, while having someone else make you a hot drink! We know twin babies means our members are likely to have lots of different schedules, so feel free to arrive anytime that suits you between 10am - 1pm. Morning tea provided - be sure to RSVP (select 'Get Tickets') so we can cater accordingly. Please advise if you have any dietary requirements by emailing socialmedia@semba.amba.org.au. SAVE THE DATE! Sleep and Settling for toddlers (13 - 36 months)

With thanks to our friends at NIMBA, we are thrilled to offer SEMBA Members the chance to join a presentation by Dr Laura Conway (PhD) of Infant Sleep Australia, The session will cover sleep & settling for toddlers (13 - 36 months). The presentation will run for approximately 45mins plus up to 30mins for Q&A. Registration link to follow. Laura is passionate about supporting parents whose babies have sleep problems. She draws on her expertise in early child development and paediatric sleep to work alongside families to address their child’s sleep difficulties. Laura ensures the latest research evidence is embedded in the advice and support she provides to families. Laura has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, first class honours and a PhD in Early Childhood Development. She is an Honorary Fellow at the Department of Paediatrics, University of Melbourne, and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Royal Children’s Hospital. She is also a mother of two.  Laura can help children aged 0-3 who: - have problems settling to sleep, - wake frequently overnight, - resist going to bed e.g., using stalling tactics, or - wake up too early in the morning. Laura enjoys helping parents to improve their child’s sleep and watching the positive changes that follow for the whole family. She helps tired parents build strong relationships with their babies and children.

The SEMBA AGM will be held on Wednesday 1 July from 7:30pm at Godfrey Street Community House in Bentleigh. Follow these links to find the Notice of Meeting (includes agenda), Proxy and Nomination form, minutes from last year's AGM, Treasurer, and President's report. At the meeting we will elect the committee for the next 12 months, as well as take time to celebrate the achievements of our club against our organisational goals, as well as the areas in which we would like to make improvements. We would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have as many members attend as possible. Our meetings are approximately 25% business, 50% socialising, and 25% snacking. There is no pressure to join the committee; however, we will take all the help we can get! If you can spare 2-3 hours a month, or have a family member who can, we would love to hear from you. The plan is a relaxed night out, potentially over dinner, drinks, or a casual pub-style catch-up, with the exact format shaped by what works best for the group. Whether it’s sharing stories, having a laugh, or simply enjoying adult conversation without interruptions, this event is all about connection and support. No pressure, no agenda — just a chance to meet other dads who get it. A practical information session for parents and carers, presented by Ambulance Victoria, followed by a FREE member lunch! Hosted at Carnegie Children's Multipurpose Centre, which has child-friendly indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing parents to listen to the presentation while their little ones play. Ambulance Victoria will deliver two presentations designed for parents of young children. A member lunch and light refreshments will follow - a selection of wraps, fruit, cheese and dip platters, plus juices, tea and coffee options. Our SEMBA Playgroup runs every fortnight during the school term and offers a relaxed, welcoming space for families with twins and multiples to connect, play, and support one another. With fantastic indoor and outdoor areas, little ones can explore a sandpit, climbing play equipment, and open play spaces designed for safe and active fun. Whether your children are crawling, cruising, or climbing, there’s something for everyone. SEMBA will provide light refreshments for parents and children — but be quick, because the fruit always disappears fast! 🍎🍌 This playgroup is a safe, judgement-free space where you’re welcome to arrive when you can and leave when you must. There’s no pressure, no expectations — just community. And if you ever need an extra pair of hands, there’s always someone nearby ready to help, because that’s what SEMBA families do best. Perfect for building friendships, sharing experiences, and letting the kids play while parents connect. The SEMBA committee look forward to once again hosting our annual Easter Family Picnic on Sunday April 19th. A FREE event for our members to help us connect and touch base with other families of multiples.  Bring your picnic rug and enjoy the sausage sizzle, face painting, and Easter egg hunt (about 11.30am). It's also a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old and new friends, and hopefully pick-up some hand-me-down goods. We will bring a number of cardboard boxes labelled by age group. If you have clothes or other hand-me-downs in good condition, please bring them along and put them in the relevant boxes for another family to use. A great way to reuse items and a win for the environment and our families’ budgets. This event is reserved for current SEMBA members; however you are welcome to bring along grandparents / additional adults to help out with your little ones. Tickets MUST be pre-booked via the 'Get Tickets' link for catering and insurance purposes. Here you can indicate how many adults and children will be coming, along with any dietary requirements you may have (we will do our best to cater accordingly). Please RSVP by Wednesday 15th April. This will allow us to get everyone catered for and make sure the Easter bunny has enough eggs to hide. Finally, if anyone can spare an hour to assist the SEMBA committee with the BBQ on the day, we would LOVE to hear from you! Please get in touch via email, at secretary@semba.amba.org.au. Join us for a Nutrition Information Session, hosted by qualified dietitian and nutritionist Vicky Gomez. This session is designed for mums looking to optimise their nutrition while also navigating parenting. This session is FREE for SEMBA Members will include information about dispelling food myths, how nutrition supports mental health and wellbeing, and health for longevity. Questions are welcome throughout the session, along with a dedicated Q & A time at the conclusion of Vicky's presentation. Vicky would love to tailor the session to the specific needs of our members, so forward any questions you have about food and nutrition to secretary@semba.amba.org.au by Friday 27th March. Our annual SEMBA End-of-year party will be held on Sunday November 30th from 10:30am-2:00pm. We look forward to celebrating the milestones and excitement of 2025 with you, as well as meeting our many new twins and SEMBA families. Join us for BBQ sausages, ice creams and coffees, a visit from Santa, and lots of fun with other twin community members! So bring your picnic rug and any other food and drink you might enjoy. This event is reserved for current financial SEMBA members; however you are welcome to bring along grandparents or additional adults to help out with your little ones.  We hope to again host a swap meet to help our families exchange good quality baby/children's clothing, toys and goods. So, bring along anything in great condition that you are looking to rehome, and pick-up some goods for your family too. RSVP by Friday November 14 via 'Get Tickets', for catering and insurance purposes. Here you can advise us of your dietary requirements and register the ages of your children.
